Following her divorce in 1985, Renee received only two child support payments for her son, Michael. For 12 years, she struggled daily to provide for the two of them.

“I couldn’t buy Michael new shoes or clothes for school,” she said.

“We shopped at the thrift store, ate Top Ramen every night, and at times, we did our laundry by hand because I didn’t have any quarters for the machines. I couldn’t even afford to take Michael to the doctor.”

Renee wanted a better life for her son, so she attended school while working full time. She also began searching for her ex-husband, but was unable to locate him.

Renee finally contacted her local child support enforcement agency. The agency said they couldn’t help her if she wasn’t on welfare. They also told her they couldn’t locate her ex-husband if she didn’t have his social security number. The welfare office said she made too much to get assistance and encouraged her to quit her job in order to qualify. Her lawyer advised her to just learn how to budget her money.

Renee’s frustration grew. She knew there must be other women experiencing the same problem, so she began searching for a solution on the Internet. Renee researched several companies, but she was so impressed with Supportkids’ reputation and the background of Casey Hoffman, Supportkids’ founder and president in Texas, she decided to give the company a try.

Months after signing on with Supportkids, the company was finally able to locate her ex-husband, who had changed his name and started a new life in New Jersey

Renee also collected a $14,000 check within that year. Today, she continues to receive monthly child support payments of $234. Renee can now buy her son new school clothes and a car for transportation to work. She is also putting money aside for her son’s college.
