How We Work

We count on getting results.

As a private company, we depend on your success. We don't receive federal funding like government agencies, so we count on getting results. If we are successful in collecting child support for you, our fees are earned from the money we collect. If we are not successful, our service is free. We retain a percentage of what we collect on your behalf. We don't get paid unless you do. It's that simple.

1. Get Started
Complete our online application

Getting started is easy. We offer a convenient online application that you can complete immediately.

By taking this first step to engage Supportkids, you will gain a powerful ally in your efforts to collect your child support. Our expertise and long history of success will be put to work for you, and together we can move toward the final goal: collection of your child support.

2. Application Support
Full assistance in our case acceptance process

During the application process, a Client Development Specialist will be assigned to your case and available to address any questions or concerns. Once the application materials are returned to us, your case will undergo an initial review for eligibility. If any additional information is needed, your Client Development Specialist will contact you. Your case is accepted when it meets our eligibility requirements, and we have all of the information and documents we need to work your case effectively.

The Client Development Team is available to help with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the application process. We want to make it as easy and straightforward for you as possible. All of our Client Development Specialists are qualified to assist you, so when you call in, any team member can help. Contact Us.

3. Expert Review and Government Operations
Thorough review and assessment of your case

Child support enforcement can be a complex issue, and if you are like many of our clients, you have a stack of paperwork that proves it. As a result, the goal of the Expert Review Team is to line up all the information we need to effectively prepare your case for collection. It is here that the child support collection strategy for your case begins to take shape.

The team will thoroughly review and assess your case, looking for any gaps in paperwork that may interrupt the child support collection process later. We will study any modifications or judgments related to your case, as well as details concerning jurisdiction. In addition, Expert Review determines how much you are owed, including any interest or penalties that may be assigned to your child support order. Once the Expert Review Team completes their work on your case, Supportkids has the full picture of your child support situation.

Our Government Operations Team has experience working with state agencies and knowledge of state-by-state laws. Though Supportkids is a private child support collection company, the child support issue is firmly tied to the government systems already in place. It is our goal to facilitate the ongoing relationship between you, the state agency and Supportkids.

Our Government Operations Team also makes sure that our processes are in line with the ever-changing child support policies at the state and county level.

4. Locate NCP
Identify key details of non-custodial parent

Our Locate Team maintains current, accurate and relevant information about where the non-custodial parent lives and works. We use an effective combination of methods which begins with the contact information provided on the application. Our extensive experience working on cases where frequent "job-hopping" occurs has allowed us to develop a process to stay on top of a change in employment status. It also extends to those cases in which employment status is unknown or payments are received "under the table". These types of cases are challenging, so our Locate Specialists have become proficient at aggressively pursuing leads.

5. Enforcement & Collections
Get payments into your household

Our Enforcement Specialists are a group of highly skilled employees who are trained to use a variety of tools to collect child support. Their negotiation skills and knowledge of available collection methods are the keys to our success. The goal of our Enforcement Team is to get payments into your household, either through regular, sustained payments or one lump sum. Our Enforcement Specialists maintain manageable caseloads which allow them to stay on top of each case. If a scheduled payment does not come in on time, our Enforcement Specialists are automatically notified so they can get the case back on track.

Child support laws give private agencies like Supportkids powerful tools to collect child support. The collection tools and techniques available to our Enforcement Specialists include garnishing wages or placing liens on property and assets. However, the most effective method is often direct negotiation with the non-custodial parent. In some cases, our legal staff will also work on court-ordered child support collection efforts. There are no additional charges to you for these services.

6. Client Relations
Individualized attention

Since effective communication is important to our clients, you will have access to updates and the opportunity to speak with someone about your case from the moment you begin the application process. That support continues once your case is accepted.

The goal of the Client Relations Unit is to ensure that you have access to the most recent and accurate information about your case.

Supportkids offers 24-hour access to case information through online updates and an automated Client Line. Our Client Advocates may be contacted by email and are also available by phone Monday through Friday 10 am - 2 pm CT and Wednesday 5 pm - 7 pm CT.

Our Client Advocates are here to provide you with a way to feel connected and involved with your case progress. As you know, collecting child support can be a very frustrating process, and we want to make sure that you have access to the information you need, when you need it.
