Vanessa Diaz
Vanessa Diaz is not only a well-respected advocate for children and families; she also knows first hand what
it is like to go without child support. As a young parent, Vanessa faced many years of frustration in trying to
collect the child support due her family. After a divorce left her strapped for money, she learned early on
that she would be the sole support of her two young boys. The child support was court ordered but never paid.
Though working long hours, she found herself in a situation faced by many custodial parents, unable to collect
and nowhere to turn.
After six years of frustration, Vanessa turned to Supportkids for help. They were able to recover all of her
child support in a matter of months. She also found her special niche with Supportkids and went to work for the
company in 1992. Vanessa is now a fifteen-year veteran and vice president of the company and has helped thousands
of parents face and overcome the struggle and frustration of collecting their child support.
Vanessa Diaz is an expert on child support collection issues, particularly using private companies as an
option when government agencies have not been successful. Her experiences dealing with the issue in her own life
provide her with a unique perspective. As vice president of Supportkids, Ms. Diaz is responsible for case
resolution and compliance issues. Diaz has testified as an expert in child support issues before the U.S. House
of Representatives Subcommittee on Human Resources and before various state legislatures. At Supportkids, Diaz
also helped establish standards and practices for the company's internal operations.
Vanessa's vast experience in child support and her natural ability to effectively connect with parents have
made her a unique asset when handling media relations. She has represented the company in national
advertisements and has been interviewed by the New York Times, Houston Chronicle, San Antonio Light, National
Enquirer, Austin American-Statesman, the John Walsh Show, PBS, National Public Radio, and many other newspapers
and news programs (radio and TV). Vanessa has also authored opinion editorials that have been published in
various newspapers across the country and throughout Texas.
An active advocate, Vanessa has traveled the country telling her personal story. She has been and continues
to be instrumental in communicating the problem of uncollected child support, now topping over $106 billion
in this country. Vanessa is truly a voice for custodial parents and contributes greatly to the heart and soul
of Supportkids.
