Matt Landry
In a financial services career spanning more than three decades, Supportkids, Inc. Board chairman Matt Landry has spent years helping clients and companies reach their financial goals. Today, he's taken that endeavor to a new level, guiding Supportkids as it fulfills its mission of serving thousands of families with unresolved child support issues.
"The glue that binds us all together is our mission -- to make a difference for families - one family at a time," Matt says. "Since 1991, Supportkids has collected hundreds of millions of dollars in unpaid child support for thousands of families." Yet, 20 million families still are dealing with child support problems, he adds. Often, the child support payments can mean 'make or break' to many families. Matt explains, "Our clients are very resourceful. As custodial parents, they've had to become very creative to hold their families together, often a monumental task with an absent parent." Under Matt's direction, Supportkids has strengthened its leadership position to being an important option for custodial parents. "Supportkids offers a child support enforcement alternative to existing government programs and private attorneys. Our commitment to service is built upon our belief that custodial parents need a private, non-governmental option to enforce their child support court orders." Prior to joining Supportkids, Matt most recently served as executive vice president of FirstCity Financial Corporation, an international, diversified financial services company. He headed FirstCity's successful IPO and listing on the NASDAQ exchange. This broad background in the financial services industry has served Matt well at Supportkids. He has successfully completed several rounds of financing from leading investment groups. Currently, he manages all of the company's operations and heads the senior management team. "Part of the success at Supportkids is because we have built a core competency and unique expertise with interstate cases. We have a very dedicated group of managers and employees. Many people in our organization have been impacted by child support issues," he says. Matt himself has been married for 40 years and has twin sons and two grandsons. He holds BBA and MBA degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and serves as a UT Business Honors Plan Advisory Counsel member for the McCombs School of Business. As an adjunct professor, he will teach a course on business policy and practices in the spring.
