Persistence and creativity are key attributes for Greg Warmink. Whether he’s training for a marathon, performing in a local band, or resolving issues related to child support, Greg relies on his impressive energy and creativity. As head of Supportkids’ Legal Division, he uses those skills and his legal training to realize the Supportkids mission – helping custodial parents receive the child support they are owed .
“It’s also an opportunity to help non-custodial parents restore their dignity and get back on the right track,” Greg says.
“I feel great about this job,” he adds. “It’s a chance to do something that’s good not only for the clients, but for the country. I feel fortunate to be able to use my legal training for such a worthy cause.”
Greg lived in Sioux Center, Iowa before moving to Georgetown, Texas, where his father was a professor and his mother is a registered nurse. He graduated from Southwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in 1988, then received a master’s degree in history from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990. His master’s thesis explored the influences and theories that effected child care policy in the 1960s.
Greg graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1994 and went to work for the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission’s Litigation Division, where he specialized in enforcing environmental regulations and helped establish a program to creatively settle environmental cases.
After a few years, Greg began looking for a new way to use his law degree to have a positive effect on people’s lives. When a friend suggested that he explore a company doing good things for children, Supportkids, Greg knew he had found a new professional home. Greg came to Supportkids in 1997 and has headed the legal division since 1999.
He especially welcomes the opportunity to help families settle cases and obtain legal assistance from a network of attorneys who work for Supportkids' clients around the country. Sometimes, it can be a complex and difficult process, but thanks to his creativity and persistence, Greg has what it takes to see it through.
